About Us
Throughout the years, students in the Chinese Drama Club have been given numerous opportunities to reignite their passion for drama while cultivating skills that enrich both their stagecraft and their lives.
During this year’s Chinese New Year celebration, our students staged a performance titled 《压祟》, which received much praise from both teachers and students.Â
Most of our members also expressed an interest in Chinese opera and went on to take on major roles, including the main and supporting leads, in our Cultural Extravaganza 2026. These experiences allowed our students to explore different forms of performing arts while gaining confidence and valuable on-stage experience.
Beyond performing on stage, our members also participated in competition and workshop that allowed them to develop skills in scriptwriting, editing, filming and acting. Our current President and a Secondary 1 member were also nominated for the “Best Actor” award in “Short Film Competition” this year. These opportunities provided our students with meaningful experiences to challenge themselves, discover their strengths and grow as performers.
In August, our students once again took to the stage during the school’s National Day Celebration with a bilingual performance in English and Chinese. The performance, which depicted how Singaporeans from different walks of life came together to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, was warmly received by the Principal, teachers and students. Through the performance, our students not only showcased their theatrical abilities but also expressed their appreciation and love for Singapore.
The Chinese Drama Club also values opportunities for learning and exchange beyond our school. Over the years, our members have had the opportunity to attend enrichment programme, e.g. watch drama performances by other schools. These experiences allowed them to be exposed to different styles of theatre, learn from other student performers.
Through performances, competitions, workshops and learning opportunities, the Chinese Drama Club continues to provide students with a platform to explore their creativity, develop their skills and build confidence. More importantly, we hope to nurture students who appreciate the performing arts, work collaboratively and carry the lessons learnt on stage into their lives beyond the theatre.
