How do I indicate my Mother Tongue Language (MTL)?
Before arriving in Singapore, scholars are required to indicate their preferred Mother Tongue Language (MTL) by completing the Mother Tongue Language Form.
You will need to indicate one of the following:
Chinese
Malay
Tamil
Thai
MTL-exempted
Please make your MTL choice carefully, as this will help the school make the necessary arrangements for your classes.
You are required to bring your original birth certificate and past two years school result slips to Singapore for verification.
If you are eligible to take Higher Chinese Language (HCL) or Higher Malay Language (HML), you will be informed after your arrival in Singapore if you are required to sit for a selection test.
What Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) can I choose from?
All students are required to participate in a Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) as part of their school experience. You may explore the range of CCAs offered by BPGHS before making your choice.

Further information on CCA selection and registration will be provided during the school induction.

Does BPGHS have specific requirements for school shoes?
Yes. School shoes should be mainly white in colour, with minimal coloured stripes or designs. Keep them plain and not too flashy.
More information can be found in our Student Code of Conduct webpage (opens in new tab)
5. Booklist
Information on the BPGHS booklist will be provided to new scholars once the booklist is confirmed.
6. Personal Learning Device (PLD)
What is a Personal Learning Device (PLD)?
The Personal Learning Device (PLD) is a device prescribed by the school for students to use as part of their learning.
Under MOE's National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP), launched in March 2020, every secondary school student is provided with opportunities to develop digital literacy and the digital competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-enabled world.
As part of the NDLP, every secondary school student is required to own a school-prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD). More information about the PLD initiative at BPGHS can be found here (opens in new tab).
Do I need to purchase a PLD from the school?
Yes. All BPGHS scholars are required to have a PLD that meets the school's prescribed specifications.
The PLD will be used regularly for teaching and learning (T&L), including classroom activities, digital learning platforms, assignments and assessments. It may also be required for e-Examinations and other school-based digital assessments.
Therefore, it is important that scholars use a device that meets the required BPGHS specifications to ensure compatibility with the school's systems, software and digital learning platforms.
What PLD model should I purchase?
Scholars are required to use a PLD that meets the specifications prescribed by BPGHS.
Current PLD model for 2026 students: Acer TravelMate Spin TMB312RN-31 Convertible 12.2" (Enhanced)
The PLD model and specifications for the 2027 Secondary 1 cohort have not been confirmed. They are expected to be announced around February 2027.
Please refer here (opens in new tab) for the latest model and specifications.
Can I purchase my PLD in my home country?
Yes. Scholars may purchase their PLD in their home country if they wish to do so. You may compare prices between your home country and Singapore before making a purchase.
However, the device must meet the PLD specifications required by BPGHS. A different model or device with different specifications may not be fully compatible with the school's teaching and learning requirements or e-Examination arrangements.
If you are unsure whether a device meets the required specifications, please check with the school before making your purchase.
Can I purchase the PLD through the school?
Yes. BPGHS will assist scholars with a bulk purchase of the PLD together with the 2027 Secondary 1 cohort.
Please note that scholars who opt for the bulk purchase will receive their PLD by the March school holidays, together with the Secondary 1 students.
The estimated cost for the PLD is SGD$1,000.
